Just to the north of Arrecife to the north eastern corner of Lanzarote lies Costa Teguise, which has seen much development over the recent years. This is reflected in the superb accommodation and facilities around the resort. The resort is ideal for couples and families as there is a lot to do, but equally you can still find somewhere quiet if you are looking for relaxation.
Las Cucharus is an excellent beach for wind surfing or participating in sea based activities. The sea is clear and warm and if you just want to sunbathe the beach has beautiful white sand. There are other water sports available, such as scuba diving and snorkelling. If you just wish to dip your toes along the shoreline, you have a choice of 3 beaches at Costa Teguise: Los Charcos is also sandy but the beach at El Jabillo is a little rocky and for that reason, is perhaps not a good choice for children.
If you like golf, you will find the only golf course here, the splendid course of the same name. There is also a water park with a variety of toboggans and rides, if you feel like being adventurous.
For those who enjoy more activity than just lazing on a glorious beach you can also visit the squash, tennis or paddle ball courts and there are plenty of private sports facilities available.
There are some wonderful shops in Costa Teguise to suit the men, the ladies and the children. The shops sell a variety of goods including typical holiday souvenirs, and there is a modern shopping centre called Las Chachuras. If you prefer the ambiance of a flea market, there is one that is open daily at Pueblo Marinero, which offers a variety of pottery, crafts, jewellery, lace and other Canarian products. There is also a wonderful market on a Sunday, here you can take a drink in one of the many bars (hot or cold) while you sit and enjoy watching people doing their Sunday bargain browsing.
Other places to visit around Costa Teguise include:
Jardin de Cactus
The El Jardin del Cactus has a superb array of over 1000 species of Cacti. There is also a windmill which has been restored and displays some unusual metal sculptures.
Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua
A large cave system which is named the Atlantida and also includes the Cueva de los Verdes. A Lanzarote born artist named César Manrique had a profound impact on the creation of this attraction because the natural jameosare now an auditorium, a swimming pool, gardens and restaurants which still sit into the surrounding landscape of volcanoes.
So, to sum up, Costa Teguise is an ideal place to suit everyone's taste whether it is active, or relaxing you will find it here.
