Travel Guide

To the east of Malaga by some 40 kilometers, Torrox Costa and Torrox Pueblo have managed to retain its Spanish charm. It is a popular resort with tourists from all over Europe, but don't let this spoil your fun.

The town has one of those main squares, around which daily life takes place at a slow pace. It will be easy to while away some time as you sit on the street terraces enjoying a coffee or two. It is a lively place with local people who gather here for a natter and gossip. The scenery from the town down to the coast is panoramic.

At the beach front you will find yourself amongst many restaurants and bars, along with a grand stretch of sandy beach which is big enough to never to get over crowded. The promenades (yes there are two here) display a fine amass of palm trees and clean pavement areas which are pedestrianised so you can ensure safety from traffic. There is a plain white lighthouse standing proud on the beach front along the promenade, the lighthouse has been the background to many holiday photographs, we feel sure.

Next to the lighthouse you will see the 'Balcon de Torrox' an unusual headland which has an observation floor so you can look below you to view the Roman remains which include an oven to make ceramics, a thermal bath and a burial site.

Looking away from the beach and towards land, you will see the mountains of Sierra de Almijara and many olive groves alongside vineyards. The setting is awesome with the contrasting greenery of the forests against the azure blue sky.
