Sissi is a village on the coast and known as one of the best resorts on Crete. Around the port area of Sissi you will find it buzzing with atmosphere and charm, where the little fishing boats bring home their catch and where you might even eat the fish in one of the local tavernas that same evening.
It is still relatively unspoilt by tourism, despite being very popular. There are lots of facilities such as sun beds and parasols to hire. A small stroll into the village will bring you an array of places to eat and drink, still with a traditional feel. There is also a good choice of accommodation
As well as the port there is a small pier which houses a few tavernas, all oozing the traditional Cretan experience. The local people of Sissi are very welcoming of tourists, but it has to be said that Sissi is a very low key tourist resort. The pace of life is very slow here and relaxing. It won't be long before you find yourself unwinding and fitting in with the pace of life, slow or slower!
Make sure you have your camera as views of the famous Bay and Gulf are not to be missed. Sissi has a couple of small supermarkets, souvenir shops, pharmacy, car and bike rentals.
During the day life is mostly spent lounging on the beach, or taking a gentle stroll along the shoreline, whilst stopping off in one of the pleasant beach side cafes.
Once you've been to Sissi once, you will want to come back again and again.
