Roquetas de Mar is an ideal all round resort with a traditional atmosphere to its ancient Roman heritage. It is a popular destination and has many wonderful architectural buildings to keep you excited.
An ideal day at Roquetas de Mar is to laze on the beach, enjoying the Mediterranean Sea when you feel like cooling off, or if you feel like some activity there are plenty of water sports on offer. Lifeguards patrol the beach, which has been awarded the European Blue Flag so you can be sure of safety at all times.
Along the beach promenade there is a good selection of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. From the beach it is just a short distance to the town centre, where you will find an abundance of atmosphere, a medieval castle and the quirky little street stalls offering local produce. The town has a very definite African feel about it.
A few kilometers south takes you to the salt lagoons, where you might see some exotic birds and flamingoes which stop here from Africa.
There is an 18 hole golf course at Roquetas de Mar and the small marina has a few trendy restaurants and bars where you can watch the sun go down overlooking the stunning views.
Roquetas de Mar is an ideal family friendly resort or ideal for couples looking for enough activities without the hype of some of the other resorts in Spain.
