Holidays in Protaras are all about the beach, swimming, water sports, sunbathing and topping up your tan. It has a fantastic bay which is ideal for families with young children as it is very safe and shallow and the sea is warm and calm.

The bay is called Fig Tree Bay for obvious reasons (it has a magnificent Fig Tree sheltering part of the bay) and the main beach is called Pernera. They are both equipped with plenty of facilities including tavernas, bars and cafes. If you wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of tourists, you can find several small bays in the locality which are much quieter and more aimed at pure relaxation. At Ayios Trias you will find a serene and peaceful bay which has a quaint church adding more character.

Nightlife is pretty laid back at Protaras but you will always manage to find something going on somewhere, whether it is a karaoke sing song, or some traditional Cypriot music. If you are looking for something a lot more lively then you can easily get to Ayia Napa, with its grand selection of clubs, discos and bars.

There is a good selection of shops at Protaras where you will be enticed into to browse and spend some holiday money. The restaurants cater for traditional menus or international menus, whichever suits your taste. Here you can spend an enjoyable evening soaking up the atmosphere and relaxing in pleasant surroundings.
