Situated just a few kilometres from Corfu Town, Perama is a beautiful and idyllic resort that stands out into its own. Surrounded by hills clad in citrus and pine the air is fresh and aromatic. The views are simply stunning: Mouse Island is one of these views, along with Vlacherna Monastery.
The beach is, in fact, hidden away so it makes for an ideal retreat when you just want to get away to unwind and recharge your batteries. It consists of a few little coves which are ideal for some isolated sun bathing.
There are some wonderful walks which are very popular with nature lovers and ramblers. You can go around the Kanoni Peninsular and around the coastal road, whilst looking at the flora and fauna that makes this spot just a bit different.
The resort was made famous by the marine biologist Gerald Durrell who found many of the aquatic and marine creatures that still exist today. Snorkellers and divers adore this area and spend many hours just looking at what lies around the coves.
There are enough restaurants and tavernas to provide you with something substantial to eat, or if you prefer a lighter snack.
For somewhere of interest to visit, you could go to the Perama Cave which, once inside will provide you with a complete and quiet coolness as you wander around its passages. It has some awesome formations in the rocks which were discovered in the 1940's. Ancient bones belonging to cave bears have been excavated and the cave has been open to the public since the late 1950's.
For a quiet and calm resort, where you can totally be absorbed in its laid back lifestyle, Perama is the ideal place for you.
