There are just two words to describe Paleokastritsa, purely amazing! It is perhaps the most famous beauty spot of Corfu, which attracts many British tourists each year.
There are six small bays so you will never find it too busy on any particular one. The bays are surrounded by forests of pine and citrus which keep it well sheltered, and even somewhat secluded. The sea is crystal azure blue and very clean, absolutely ideal for families with young children. Diving and snorkelling is popular here around some of the larger rocks which sit just outside the shoreline.
We mustn't forget to mention the monastery which sits on top of the cliffs overlooking Paleokastritsa. If you enjoy walking you can visit the monastery and also see some of the other views. Another enjoyable walk is to the Venetian Castrizza San Angelo, built in the 13th century.
There are some wonderful restaurants and tavernas at Paleokastritsa, which form the basis of the nightlife. There are no wild or noisy clubs or bars here so if you are looking for entertainment at night which continues to the early hours, you won't find it here.
Excursions by boat are made from the main beach and you will be able to visit many other attractive spots by water taxi. These run frequently and are relatively cheap.
If you hire a car you should not miss out on visiting some of the traditional Greek villages that the which sit up in the mountains of the area. Houses covered in flowers, Greek woman sitting doing lace and hand crafted gifts whilst having a daily gossip.
