Travel Guide

Once you've holidayed in Nerja, you will just want more and more again. Traditionally Nerja was a fishing village, but these days it has seen massive growth and development.

There are beautiful beaches, old caves which date back to BC times, a delightful promenade and a quaint, traditional centre to the resort. All of these things help to make it a holiday experience you will simply enjoy.

Ever the busy holiday resort, there are lots of things to do at Nerja from water sports on one of the beaches, or dining al fresco close to the waters edge.

A natural phenomenon to see is the Balcon de Europa, which is a cliff that juts out over the sea and from which, if you have your camera, you can take a fantastic picture of the scenery looking over the Mediterranean Sea and the azure water below you.

The caves of Nerja are a popular tourist attraction, drawing many crowds each year. One of Europe's biggest natural cave formation and discovered in 1959, you will be overwhelmed by the stalagmites and stalactites. Recent discoveries of some rare species of beetles and scorpions are presently protected, and this section of the cave is not for public viewing yet. The festival held in July every year, to celebrate flamenco music and dance, is held inside the caves and is a spectacular event.
