Hammamet is probably the most popular holiday resort of Tunisia which combines a good mixture of culture, cosmopolitan style, glorious golden beaches which are enchanting and a hint of North African culture.
The centre of Hammamet offers fantastic shops, with an abundance of cafes, bars and nightlife on offer. The restaurants are both traditional with Tunisian cuisine and international with Italian, American and Greek menus.
There are plenty of places to visit in and around Hammamet. You can wander around the old souks and experience the traditional atmosphere, sights, sounds and delightful spicy smells.
You can visit the Roman Baths of Hammamet which you can see in the ancient medina and for some astounding views, climb the Kasbah with your camera as you will see some magnificent scenery of the town, plus more. You can visit the Carthage and explore its ruins, or visit the town of Nabeul to see some fine pottery. There are plenty more excursions available from Hammamet like boat trips, camel riding across the desert or horse riding.
We shouldn't forget to mention the beach: this stretch of coastline offers the most idyllic beaches with long sandy stretches, which lead to turquoise warm seas and beyond the beach the palm trees. The water sports are in abundance. For those who love water sports you will find everything available including scuba diving, waterskiing, jet skiing, sailing and paragliding.
A holiday in Hammamet can be about whatever you want: if you want peace and relaxation with little to do you can have it, or on the other hand you can have a mixture of both sightseeing, relaxation, glorious beach days and more.
