Sun, sand, sea and history - Gouves is packed with all these and more.
Although a small resort it is fast becoming one of Crete's popular resorts. It caters well to the needs of tourists by way of shops, tavernas and restaurants. The main centre with its small narrow streets is traditional enough with a welcoming atmosphere. You will find life quite relaxing as you wander around the streets.
There are 3 beaches which come under this municipality so you will never be short of somewhere to stretch out and soak up the sun. There are some water sports available when you get bored of nothing to do, if that time comes. There is also a nearby water park where you can enjoy the experience of sun bathing and getting wet, whilst you brave the flumes and the rapid river ride.
Gouves is in an ideal spot to explore the other resorts of Crete, such as the island of Spinalonga and the Aghia Paraskevi Cave, which was once inhabited by the Minoan civilization.
It is a good place for a family holiday, busy but not too noisy and it has a fine selection of hotels, bars, tavernas and inexpensive restaurants.
