Travel Guide

Glyfada is all about sun, sand and swimming as it has one of the best beaches on Corfu. The facilities are very good and even include a waiter service from the bars and tavernas which line the beach front, so if you don't feel like moving then you don't have to.

The beach offers water sports facilities, as well as a flag system which controls the safety of the water. Just a short swimming distance from the shoreline you can dive, jump or purely splash into the sea from some well known rocks. At peak season you might delight in watching youths having a jumping competition from these rocks, which are believed to be over 40 feet high in places. Of course, snorkelling around these rocks will be interesting as you might find some unusual marine creatures.

There are a couple of supermarkets selling most commodities that you might need if you are self catering. You will also find the typical tourist souvenir shops selling beach ware, pottery and crafts.

Glyfada is popular with golf enthusiasts as nearby there is the magnificent Ropa Valley course. The course is set in stunning scenery of the surrounding cliffs, and has plenty of facilities such as a club house, pro shop and club hire. The restaurant provides a good choice of cuisine and ambiance to match.

Nature lovers will enjoy some of the walks that are in the area, through pine forests and hills along the coastal paths. Here you might see some of the fauna and flora that is unique to Corfu.

There are some other places to visit which are within easy access either by private car or public bus. These include trips to Corfu Town or the monastery at Miriotissa Bay.

There are some welcoming and traditional restaurants, coupled alongside some laid back tavernas so you won't feel it is just too busy. There is as much activity as you want, without having to go too far to find it.

Glyfada is ideal as a base but at the same time, if you simply want some time to unwind and relax, then it has what you want on offer.
