Fez is the 3rd biggest city of Morocco and under the province of Fez you also have Meknes, Raba and Marrakech. At Fez you will see a magnificent medina of the middle ages which is well preserved for all to see and is still being restored. Fez has earned a reputation for being the spiritualistcapital of Morocco.
You will find a mix of mosques and Islamic schools in Fez, it is said to be the city of learning and intelligent people come from Fez, some being leading politicians.
Fez's climate is very hot because of where it is located and there is hardly any rain. There are plenty of shops where you can hop into to browse and cool off in the air conditioned buildings. There are souks and outdoor markets that are full of atmosphere and those wonderful spicy smells of cumin and coriander.
There are many gardens where you can take a picnic or relax for an hour or two or, you could visit some of the tombs which Fez has plenty of.
If you enjoy bird watching, you will find that night as dusk approaches there are swarms of alpine swifts that fly about searching for insects to feed their young chicks which nestled inside the old city walls.
