If you are seeking a lively holiday, then Benitses is your ideal spot. It is located just over 10 kilometres from Corfu Town, which is easily accessed by public transport, taxi or car. However, that said there is still tranquility to be found and it isn't very hard to come across it.
For some years Benitses has benefited from massive improvements, making it a trendy and colourful resort. The promenade is colourful where you will find palm trees basking in the sun.
By day activity is centred on the beach where you will find a good selection of water sports available. The beach is pebbly but the sea is calm and clear, so much so that it has received the European Blue Flag award. Close to the beach front there is an abundance of tavernas, cafes, bars and ice cream parlours. The view looking out to sea is stunning; the ever present scene of the mountains in the distant enhances its appeal.
There are some noisy bars that stay open until very late; these tend to draw the younger crowds looking for a buzz. There are many fast food take away establishments but these tend to sit next to the more authentic restaurants so you can have a choice of food to suit your tastes and pockets.
We mustn't forget to mention that Benitses was once a traditional working fishing village. When you go into the centre, you will be amazed by the architecture of the olden buildings. It is well worth a visit to browse through the old narrow streets and perhaps picking up a bargain.
A popular attraction you can visit in Benitses is the small shell museum. Here you will find an array of fine specimens of shells from local beaches around Corfu, and much more in splendid colour and finery.
Benitses is an ideal family holiday, with plenty to do on the beach and for evening entertainment. However, couples will still find it an interesting place to holiday as you can take in as much or as little holiday activity as you want.
